Guia Martinotti and her brand NoorTribe at Swahili Fashion Week

Guia Martinotti e il suo brand Noortribe alla Swahili Fashion Week

To better understand Swahili Fashion Week, we met one of the three Italians who walked the runway: Guia Martinotti, founder of the NoorTribe brand. Guia shared her vision and commitment to promoting Tanzanian design to the world. After experiences with luxury brands such as Alberta Ferretti, John Richmond, and Tom Ford, she chose to move to Tanzania to bring innovation to the international fashion scene.

The inspiration for the collection presented at Swahili Fashion Week 2023 expresses a fusion of cultural heritage and sophisticated contemporaneity. The garments present a mix of maxi prints in bright colors meticulously combined with luxurious materials and precious artisanal embroidery, designed for today's 'boss lady' who doesn't neglect her femininity.

“I want to create a brand that is more aware of the great heritage of this region... to bring traditional Maasai fabrics to a global level, as a symbol of a cultural bond that transcends borders.”

NoorTribe stands out for its strong commitment to sustainability and support for the local community, combining the authenticity of African fabrics and techniques with the elegance and innovation of European design. This fusion of culture and values allows for the creation of garments that not only tell stories but also contribute to a more equitable future. The brand also contributes to the community in Dar es Salaam by supporting the Malaika Kids orphanage.
